42 YEARS MAKES FIDAE THE EXHIBITION WITH THE LONGEST TRAJECTORY IN LATIN AMERICA
What has led it to be recognized as the main aerospace, defense and security exhibition in the Region.
On last Tuesday, February 8, the International Air and Space Fair, FIDAE, celebrated its 42nd anniversary, making it the Aerospace, Defense and Security Exhibition with the longest history and recognition in Latin America, as well as being the first to be organized by an Air Force.
Although the first edition of FIDAE was held in 1980 at the El Bosque Air Base, under the name of International Air Fair, FIDA, to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of the Chilean Air Force (FACh), its success was such that it was decided to celebrate it every two years.
Thus, in 1990, when it was 10 years old in its sixth edition, the space category was incorporated, renamed the International Air and Space Fair, FIDAE, a name that it carries to this day.
Already fully consolidated, and due to its great growth and worldwide interest, FIDAE changes its location to the Los Cerrillos Airport slab, where it housed thousands of exhibitors and visitors until its thirteenth edition in 2004.
In 2006, and with the current Commander in Chief of the Chilean Air Force, General Arturo Merino, as CEO, FIDAE is carried out in the 2nd Air Brigade, in Pudahuel, a place where FIDAE carries to this day and which is specially designed to carry out an aerospace, defense and security event of this magnitude.
For over 40 years of existence, organized by the Air Force and with the support of the Government of Chile, the International Air and Space Fair is already fully consolidated in the world circuit of fairs, in addition to being recognized as the most important of Latin America by its peers, which shows why FIDAE is the main business platform and gateway to the market in the Region.
The Chilean Air Force, through FIDAE, fully contributes to national development, to creating greater aerospace awareness and allows for greater closeness with the national society.
